In 2024, GSB continued to strengthen its deep-rooted commitment to the communities we serve, marking another year of meaningful impact, engagement, and support. Our dedication was evident through substantial financial contributions, employee volunteerism, and steadfast partnerships that uplifted local organizations and the people they serve.

GSB’s commitment to philanthropy was reflected in more than $310,000 in direct community support, including $115,000 in community foundation grants and $22,000 in scholarships for higher education. Demonstrating our culture of giving, GSB employees personally contributed $15,000 to various causes, which the bank proudly matched, amplifying the impact of their generosity.

Beyond financial contributions, our employees remained at the heart of community service. GSB team members dedicated their time and expertise by serving on 59 nonprofit boards, ensuring these organizations had the leadership and support needed to fulfill their missions. Volunteerism remained a cornerstone of our culture, with GSB employees rolling up their sleeves for Habitat for Humanity Builds, participating in key initiatives with The Arthritis Foundation, Saint Martin de Porres Academy, Women & Family Life Center, New Reach, Columbus House, and the SARAH Foundation and providing hands-on support for numerous other community programs.

In addition to direct event participation, GSB sustained its partnerships with community foundations in Branford, Guilford, Madison, and Middlesex County, reinforcing our role as a catalyst for positive change across the region. These collaborations allow us to extend our reach and provide meaningful assistance to nonprofit organizations that make a lasting difference in people’s lives.

A defining moment of 2024 was GSB’s landmark decision to donate its building at 44 Boston Street in Guilford, CT, to The Guilford Foundation. Having provided this space to the Foundation for over 20 years, formalizing the donation was a natural and meaningful step, further cementing our commitment to supporting organizations that strengthen our communities.
