Todd, GSB’s Information Security Officer, will be one of 14 to be recognized by the Connecticut Banking Association as a 2023 New Leader in Banking at a special awards ceremony in January.

GSB is proud to announce that Information Security Officer Ryan Todd’s leadership and accomplishments have been recognized by the Connecticut Bankers Association (CBA), and he will be awarded as one of the 2023 New Leaders in Banking at a special awards ceremony on Jan. 12.

The CBA represents Connecticut’s financial institutions and serves as the voice of its members in matters of their common interest. 47 banks are members of the CBA, and another 88 banks are associate members. The CBA began soliciting nominations in early fall and closed the process in October. Todd was chosen by a small panel of judges, none of whom is an active banker or CBA staff member (to ensure impartiality).

Todd joined GSB in 2016 after working in information security for other industries. He demonstrates a deep understanding of information security and shares his knowledge effectively across  different levels and varying skill sets in our organization. Todd is responsible for oversight of GSB’s Bank Security & Fraud Mitigation, Business Continuity, and Vendor Management.

“We are extremely proud of Ryan for his well-deserved recognition from the CBA,” said GSB President and CEO Timothy P. Geelan. “ His contributions to our bank, his leadership acumen, and his contributions to the community are worthy of celebration, and this award was well-earned. I look forward to witnessing how much more this remarkable team member can achieve.”

Todd is  an active member of the GSB Bank Security Group Committee and assists with staff education efforts involving potential fraud attempts. He can be credited with elevating the bank’s overall information security position and provides continued bank-wide training in several ways including disseminating  information he receives through participation with various external fraud groups. Todd is also an active member of the International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators where he attends chapter and fraud group meetings within southern and southeastern Connecticut on behalf of GSB. Todd also manages GSB’s  Business Continuity Program  and recently converted that program from a spreadsheet based manual process to an automated process — greatly improving the bank’s overall program and efficiency.

Todd graduated from the Connecticut School of Finance and Management  — the CBA’s premier banking education and management program — and was named valedictorian. Todd is also deeply involved in the community.  He served as board member for United Way of Southeastern Connecticut until his term expired in Summer 2022. He currently serves on the IT/Risk Committee for Capital for Change (C4C).
