Shalonta Ford Promoted to Vice President, Retail Banking and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer

The GSB Board of Directors is proud to announce that effective January 1, 2021, Shalonta Ford has been promoted to Vice President, Retail Banking and Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) Officer. Ford originally joined GSB in 2016 as Branch Administration Officer, was promoted to Vice President, Branch Administration in 2018, and further promoted to Vice President, Retail Banking Officer later in 2018.

Ford will continue to serve as the Retail Department head and she will chair an internal DEI Committee. As DEI Officer, Ford will provide strategic and day-to-day operational leadership of all policies, programs, and practices for GSB with the context of DEI. She will be a trusted partner to the Executive Management leadership team for strategy, program launch, and implementing initiatives to ensure the optimal attraction, development, and retention of diverse talent, as well as infusing DEI principles and practices into the GSB organization and the communities it serves.

Ford, earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Albertus Magnus College in New Haven. She holds a Certificate in Banking & Finance from the Connecticut School of Finance & Management and is currently attending Albertus Magnus College for a Master’s degree in Leadership. Prior to her employment at GSB, Ford’s experience includes various leadership roles at TD Bank.

Ford, a resident of Hamden, has served on New Reach’s Celebration Auction Committee since 2016. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.
